Green Tea Tidbit

A new study from Japan was published this week showing that green tea may help with stress. The study found that drinking green tea may reduce psychological stress by as much as 20 percent. In this study of 42,093 Japanese individuals, 6.6% suffered from psychological stress. In those individuals suffering from stress, green tea consumption improved psychological well-being.

Tea Tidbit

Researchers at Harvard University found that drinking five cups of black tea a day quadrupled the body's immune defense system after two weeks, probably because of theanine. Tea also contains catechins, including ECGC, which act like a cleanup crew against free radicals. Grotto suggests drinking one to three cups of black, green or white tea every day.

I have started tinkering with Tea Blends on the Adagio Teas Site! It's fun! I figured with all of the teas already blended and already there I didn't expect that someone would purchase mine - especially so fast! I received a notice today that someone bought one of my teas already!!! I was shocked and excited! Less than a day of creating - I already sold one! YAY! Jasmine Silver Needle from Adagio

I'm not a big Jasmine fan. Normally. This is the BEST Jasmine ANYTHING I have EVER had yet. It makes me ENJOY Jasmine. I never thought I would say that but it's true. Not that I will suddenly turn all Jasmine on your arses but this is good stuff right here. As soon as I opened the tin it was like I was in the center of Jasmineville. And instead of the Jasmine smelling of old lady perfume it was more of a natural Jasmine scent...truly unexpected. As I steeped the leaves/needles the scent lingered but was still true. After the steep it started to even out but was still quite strong. At this point I was a little worried that the Jasmine taste was going to be too over the top based on the aroma but it was just right. That taste was paired with a nice, soft sweetness which led me to a smirk or smile...this tea has proved me wrong and I don't mind! The BEST 2 parts was that it WASN'T bitter and that there wasn't a funky aftertaste. The only thing I disagree with is that the descriptions says a 'whisper of jasmine'...for me, it was more a SHOUT, but, it all worked out...to be a wonderful tea experience.

Raspberry Earl Grey from Zhena's Gypsy Tea

I admit it. I'm a Tea Nerd...a Tea Freak...I'm obsessed. Not only do I have this blog but I also log 99 percent of my tea experiences on Steepster.com - a great community for tea lovers.

I haven't had this tea in a while but I remember LOVING it. I was going back thru some of my notes on steepster and found the following comments...

Medium Black Colored Tea. Next to no scent once steeped. Average Black Tea taste with nifty raspberry and orange undertones. I still enjoy and like this tea for what it is...pleasant and not pushy.

Green Tea Heaven by Teavana

A lavishly aromatic blend of Sencha green tea with strawberry, raspberry, rhubarb, and red currants. By adding a fruity sweetness to the naturally good Sencha, this tea becomes exceptional. You'll enjoy every cup!

How to Prepare
Use 1 teaspoon of tea per 8oz of hot water. Heat water to 175-180 degrees and steep for 1 minute. 2oz of tea equals 25-30 teaspoons.
Ingredients:
Sencha green tea with strawberry, red currants, raspberry, and rhubarb pieces.

Teavana described this tea on their website as the above but as you know we all have different tastes and interests. So below you will see what I have thought about it.

My First Attempt: It's Fruity and Fun to sniff, pale yet pretty in color. The taste is smooth but fun thanks to the fruit highlights. Green Tea Taste is more noticeable the longer you steep. I notice a hint of sugary taste as well. Creative Blend. Thumbs Up!
My Second Attempt: The Rhubarb and sencha tastes are really coming thru more. It's very nice...paired with the strawberry and raspberry. I find this to be a very delightful blend. Thanks Teavana!

Wild Blueberry

Oh how I've missed this tea. It smells wonderful! Strong Blueberry Scent but when it comes to taste it's a strong black tea with blueberry highlights. NICE. I like it a lot! But I do think that the best part of this tea is the scent. AWESOME!

Adagio's Green Pekoe

Green tea from the Fujian province of China. Green Pekoe (sometimes referred to as Orange Pekoe) is famed as an everyday tea, and is among the most popular teas consumed in China. Its thin, wavy leaves appear almost black when dry. Once infused, however, our 'Green Pekoe Blues' reveals its true color. And produces a light cup with a smooth, mellow taste and a gentle, soothing aroma.

This is from Adagio's Website. I LOVE Adagio! I've said it once and I will say it again...their customer service is AWESOME. They sent me a few free samples. This was one of them. It was great because 3 out of the 4 samples I receive I had yet to try. This Green Pekoe was a
Typical Green Tea type color, scent, etc...a tad bit on the sweet side for a Green tea and not much of an aftertaste which I appreciate. It's a little perfumy, grassy, but a nice cup! I like it!
